Let me start with an apology. I wasn't able to deliver my promise to suggest a movie a week. I was intrigued by this movie, procrastinated, drained after re-watching Piravi, re-reading Memoir of a father (ഒരച്ഛന്റെ ഓർമ്മക്കുറിപ്പുകൾ) By prof. Eechara Varrier. I will try to post regular.
Unlike older blog posts, I will write personal notes, experience watching/reading instead of a passive writeup.
The masterpiece by Shaji N Karun. I was amazed to know it is his debut movie. Script work has done by S Jayachandran Nair (I think this is the same Samakaleeka Malayalam Person), Raghunadh Paleri and Shaji N Karun himself.
Every shot has the master's signature, can find priorities of the director through eyes of a cinematographer. Sunny Joseph is behind the camera. Well known artiste G. Aravindan - Yes the director, who did works like Thambu(തമ്പ്), Kaanchana Seetha, Kummatty (കുമ്മാട്ടി), Graphic novelist behind Cheriya Manushyarum Valiya Lokavum, did music along with Mohan Sithara.
Premji - who played the role of the father did a phenomenal job in potraying despair and hope. The scenes of him crossing the river on the boat wont leave me for a long timme.
The movie received wide appreciation from around the globe. Camera d'Or, National Award for Best Cinema of 1989 are some among them.
